Magento development — an online store that grows with your business
You are already a Magento customer or have decided to use it after analyzing your growth goals. Lumav helps you realize the goals of your online store.
We are the first company selected as a Magento partner company on Estonian capital (Adobe Bronze Solution partner) since 2018. Our certified team, including certified management, has experience in Magento development since 2011.

Why choose Magento as an online store platform
Many e-businesses reach a point where the existing platform no longer offers enough flexibility. The number of products is growing, international ambitions are growing, there is a desire to create B2B systems — and the standard box solution does not scale.
Magento is the most used platform among the world’s largest online stores, including those who also use the free version. Adobe Commerce for the more ambitious enterprise is license-based and means a larger package of functionalities that would otherwise have to be solved with third-party modules.
You want to make sure that there are no technological limitations to the growth of the online store.
The main advantages of the Magento platform
- Unlimited flexibility — customizable checkout, pricing, catalog and user experience
- Multilingual and multichannel sales support — different languages, currencies, stores in one system
- B2B and B2C in the same platform — customer groups, special prices, offers, self-service
- Wide module ecosystem — thousands of extensions from different module stores
- Open source code — full control over your online store, including hosting and independence from a single service provider
Magento Open Source vs Adobe Commerce
Magento has two versions and Lumav has long experience for both.
Magento Open Source
Magento Open Source (formerly Magento Community) is free and open source. It covers most online store needs: product management, orders, payment and delivery methods, SEO tools.
Suitable for a business that wants full control and flexibility without license costs.
Adobe Commerce
Adobe Commerce (formerly Magento Enterprise) is a licensed version that adds advanced B2B functionality, customer segmentation, content management, and AI-based tools.
Suitable for an ambitious e-business that needs a higher level of personalization and multi-store management.
Who is Magento for?
- For a company whose e-business is already functioning or whose growth has a watertight business plan
- For online stores with a larger product range and more complex catalog logic
- For e-businesses that combine B2B and B2C logic
- For companies with international sales, multi-store or multi-currency needs
- For online stores where ERP, PIM and marketing automation integrations are business critical
Magento frontend technologies — which one is right for you
The Magento backend is a powerful business logic engine. But how your customer experiences the online store is determined by frontend technology. Lumav has experience with all four modern Magento frontend solutions — during the analysis, we help you choose the right one for your business.
Don’t know which front end is right for you? This will be revealed during the analysis — our architects will help you find the right solution according to your business and budget.

How Lumav develops a new online store on a large scale
Every Magento development project at Lumav goes through a proven methodology, which ensures that the result meets your business goals.
Development can be based on a detailed initial task or flexible requirements. Regular meetings are held with customers and, if necessary, requirements are adjusted according to the changed situation.

Analysis and baseline task
Every project starts with an analysis, where external experts are also involved if necessary. Together with you, we will map out the goals, user needs and technical requirements of the online store.
When choosing Magento, after the e-business analysis, the choice of frontend technology — Luma, Hyvä, Vue Storefront or PWA Studio is also decided.
UX/UI design
Our UX/UI designers create a user interface that takes into account the specifics of Magento and the selected frontend technology.
The focus is on simplifying the shopping journey: product search, filtering, shopping cart and checkout must work smoothly both on computer and mobile.
Development and integrations
Lumav has experience with integrations with the following systems: Erply, iDS, MS Dynamics NAV, MS Dynamics AX, Directo, Scoro, VERP, Excellent/Standard Books, Akeneo, InRiver, Mailchimp, Smaily and Custobar.
Your online store does not remain an isolated system — stocks, prices, customer data and orders move automatically between the online store and the business software.
Testing and go-live
Before publishing, we test the online store on a test server, make the necessary SEO preparations and prepare a plan for going live.
If there is a special request, we can do a soft launch earlier for a smaller circle and prepare a test plan.
Maintenance after publication
After release, Lumav will continue as a maintenance and development partner. This means that the online store remains secure, up-to-date and ready for the next stages of development.

Frequently asked questions
When to choose Magento over Shopify or WooCommerce or some other software?
Magento is designed for larger and more complex e-commerce. Shopify or other rental software is a good solution for a start-up business or for scaling if the processes are standard or flexible. We also have 16+ years of experience with WooCommerce and it is free software with one of the largest development communities. It is suitable for smaller shops, but will be in trouble if the number of products increases to thousands or the turnover increases significantly, i.e. there is no ceiling for growth. We recommend Magento if the e-business is already functioning or the owner’s business plan for growth is watertight.
Which Magento frontend technology should I choose?
It depends on your business needs and budget. The Magento standard is suitable if you need a quick market entry and broad module support and if the customer segment does not expect bells and whistles. Good is a good choice if speed and PageSpeed are a priority. Vue Storefront is suitable if you need full flexibility in the user interface. PWA Studio offers an app-like experience. Lumav helps to choose the right solution during the analysis.
How long does a Magento online store development project take?
A typical Magento development project lasts between three and nine months, depending on the complexity of the solution. A simpler online store with standard functionality is completed faster, a more complex multilingual solution with ERP interfaces requires more time. The analysis phase gives you an accurate schedule and volume before development begins. In exceptional cases, we have also set up standard stores in two or three weeks.
What is the difference between Magento Open Source and Adobe Commerce?
Magento Open Source is a free and open source version that covers most e-commerce needs. Adobe Commerce adds advanced B2B functionality, AI-based personalization, search, returns, and more, and provides support directly from Adobe. Lumav has experience with both versions.
Can an existing online store be transferred to Magento?
Yes. Lumav has successfully migrated online stores from various platforms to Magento. We have also taken over projects from other development partners. During the migration, we ensure that the data is transferred correctly and that the business cannot suffer, data can be transferred easily. Read more about the Magento partner exchange
How does Lumav ensure the quality of the development project?
Over the years, the process of developing and going live your own online store has developed. A separate store-specific plan is made for live, and the customer’s representative can test everything on the test server.
